Ice Hockey - Varsity Girls
2018 - 2019
Head Coach: Randi Dumont
2018-19 Captains: Bridget Cornell '19 and Lily Delaney '19
The girls varsity ice hockey program takes great pride in its student-athletes, and in representing the school each winter with “Groton” emblazoned across our chests. The program accommodates a relatively wide spectrum of skill sets, yet stays competitive in the challenging Independent School League (ISL). Embracing our varied levels of expertise, we have found ways to maximize the role of each player both in practice and in games; the greater notion that everyone matters at Groton is strongly reflected in the girls hockey program. Everybody has a role, and each role is instrumental in the success of the team.
The program is founded upon respect, integrity, trust, and accountability. Regardless of their long-term aspirations on the ice, a strong work ethic, love for the sport, and a team-oriented mindset characterize those who don the Groton jersey. At Groton we focus on the development of the whole person, and the lessons learned in athletics are as enriching as those learned in the Schoolhouse.
Groton is fortunate to have two ice rinks, allowing the team first priority scheduling for practices and games. No team (varsity or JV) ever has to practice after dinner or during study hall. Varsity and JV teams practice four days a week, with games every Wednesday and Saturday. A 20+ game schedule with one holiday tournament provides a busy winter season and ample ice time.
The coaching staff welcomes any prospective student to visit campus for a tour and interview, to meet some players, to catch a game, or to chat with one of the coaches. Please do not hesitate to contact the head coach, Randi Dumont, at firstname.lastname@example.org
