Parents Weekend 2022 Schedule

  • Thursday (Optional)

    11:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. RegistrationSchoolhouse, Sackett Forum
    Families pick up registration packets, schedules, and nametags and have an opportunity to meet fellow parents. Refreshments available all day.
     
    1:00–5:00 p.m. Parent/Teacher ConferencesSchoolhouse
    Parents meet with teachers in ten-minute intervals, as scheduled. Please see your specific schedule for details, times, and exact locations.
  • Friday

    11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. Lunch—Dining Hall

    11:30 a.m.–1:15 p.m. International Parents Luncheon—Headmaster’s House
    A luncheon for our international families, their host families, and faculty

    11:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Registration—Schoolhouse, Sackett Forum
    Families pick up registration packets, schedules, and nametags and have an opportunity to meet fellow parents. Refreshments available all day.

    12:30–5:00 p.m. Parent/Teacher Conferences—Schoolhouse
    Parents meet with teachers in ten-minute intervals, as scheduled. Please see your specific schedule for details, times, and exact locations.

    4:00–4:45 p.m. Counseling and Wellness—Hundred House, Upper School Study Room
    Counseling and Psychological Services’ primary goal is to foster students' psychological, social, and emotional well-being. Come join us to learn about our various programs.

    5:00–7:30 p.m. Dinner—Dining Hall
     
    5:00–7:00 p.m. Sixth Form Parent Reception—Hundred House, Reading Room
    Enjoy the company of fellow parents and wind down after the day. This reception is for adults only, as alcohol will be served.

    5:15–5:45 p.m. Introduction to College Counseling—Schoolhouse, Sackett Forum
    This is an optional meeting for parents of Third and Fourth Form students to learn more about the counseling process and to hear from Peter Newcomb, Director of College Counseling. 

    5:30–6:30 p.m. Spiritual Life Open House—Memorial Room, Hundred House
    Join Spiritual Life team leaders for refreshments and informal presentation and discussion of weekday Chapel services and our weekend religious gatherings.

    6:00 p.m. Game Time Tent – Friday Night Lights—Field of Inclusion, Turf Field 
    Go Groton! Join parents and students under the tent for tailgate-themed food, and cheer for our Groton Zebras! 

    6:30 p.m. Varsity Girls Soccer vs. BB&N—Field of Inclusion, Turf Field

  • Saturday

    7:00–9:00 a.m. Breakfast—Dining Hall
        
    7:30–11:30 a.m. Registration—Schoolhouse, Sackett Forum
    Families pick up registration packets, schedules, and nametags and have an opportunity to meet fellow parents. Refreshments available all day.

    8:00–9:30 a.m. Parent Fund Volunteer Meeting—Schoolhouse, Multipurpose Room
    Parent Fund volunteers and parents interested in learning more about Groton School’s Parent Fund are welcome to attend.

    8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Parent/Teacher Conferences—Schoolhouse
    Parents meet with teachers in ten-minute intervals, as scheduled. Please see your specific schedule for details, times, and exact locations.

    1:30–2:15 p.m. Headmaster’s Address—Schoolhouse, Sackett Forum
    Please join us to hear Headmaster Temba Maqubela’s Parents Weekend address.

    2:15 p.m.–3:00 p.m. Global Education Opportunities (GEOs)—Schoolhouse, Room 128
    Join Dean of Globalism and Experiential Learning, Nishad Das, to learn more about Groton's Global Education Opportunities (GEOs). Our GEOs help students understand cultural, socioeconomic, and political disparities throughout the world.

    2:30 p.m.–3:15 p.m. Art Exhibition—Dillion Art Center, The de Menil Gallery
    Join visual art faculty members to hear more about visual art at Groton and view the current exhibition, 200 Women.  

    3:00 p.m. Athletic Contests—Athletic Fields
    Details may be found on the website athletic calendar.

    5:00–7:30 p.m. Dinner—Dining Hall
        
    5:30–7:30 p.m. Second and Third Form Parents Reception—Sunset Farm, 154 Farmers Row, Groton
    Stop by to enjoy the company of other parents at Sunset Farm. This reception is for adults only, as alcohol will be served. Continuous shuttles will depart from the Marion D. Campbell Performing Arts Center lobby. You may also drive to Sunset Farm (one mile from campus), but parking is limited.

    5:30–7:30 p.m. Fourth Form Parents Reception—Hundred House, Upper School Study
    Enjoy the company of fellow parents and wind down after the day. This reception is for adults only, as alcohol will be served.

    5:30–7:30 p.m. Fifth Form Parents Reception—Hundred House, Reading Room
    Enjoy the company of fellow parents and wind down after the day. Director of College Counseling Peter Newcomb will offer remarks at 6:15 p.m. This reception is for adults only, as alcohol will be served.

    8:00–9:30 p.m. Parents Weekend Performance—Marion D. Campbell Performing Arts Center
    Families welcome. Students who are performing should arrive at 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday

    10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Brunch—Dining Hall
        
    11:00 a.m. Chapel Service—St. John’s Chapel
        Episcopal service of Morning Prayer with music from the Choir.

    11:00 a.m. Buddhist Sangha—Schoolhouse, Gammons Recital Hall

    12:15 p.m. Catholic Mass—St. John’s Chapel

Saturday: 7:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
Sunday: 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
