A hard-fought W

In a game that started with beautiful fall weather and ended with miserable weather, the Groton thirds team avoided a similar fate. We started well, with good pressure and a number of opportunities. Walker capitalized on a rebound from a perfectly served corner sent in by Wally to put us up 1-0 6 minutes into the game. Neither team managed to score again before halftime, with solid zebra defending preventing Belmont Hill opportunities before they became dangerous. In the second half, Belmont Hill earned several good chances, but Alec and the crossbar combined to keep the shutout. George earned a PK for us, but the Belmont Hill keeper made a diving save to his left to keep the final at 1-0.
