Big win for the Zebras

The Groton Zebras went to 2-0 on the ‘18 gridiron campaign after Saturday’s thrilling 15-12 victory over Brooks in North Andover. Keyed by the stellar ground game performance of Vth Form running back Caleb Coleman (22-160), the GridZeebs dug in defensively with three goal line stands, to keep the Brookstonians out of the end zone. Senior captain Clement Banwell (Charlotte, NC) set the tone with a key Field Goal block to stymie Brooks’ opening drive. Banwell and his running guard cohort, senior Brent Gorton (Pensacola, FL) created the running lanes for Coleman (Wellesley, MA) and fellow VIth Former Chris Sznip (Denver, CO), who picked up critical 4th quarter yardage. The Zebra gridders open the home slate Saturday (3:00), hosting a well coached Nobles squad.
