Groton Best's St. Marks at Home

Tiffany
Our second race of the season was a success and we were happy to host a visiting team on our small river!
It was a gray cool day in Groton, but the water was perfectly smooth with a brisk current from the rains the day before. Groton was coming off of our Long Weekend so we hadn't had too many practices. G4 started off the day and unfortunately lost to St. Marks by 6 seconds. Fourth boat has gone through a lot of personnel changes the past 5 days and hasnt' had the same line up for more than three days it feels like. There was some redemption after the Third boats raced and it was discovered that G4 would have beeaten St. Mark's G3 boat, meaning St. Marks had mistakenly thought their G3 was faster than their G4 and should have probably raced their boats differently against us. G3 was able to best St. Marks by 12 seconds, for the biggest margin of the day. G2 beat St. Marks by 4.5 seconds. Finally G1 had a very close race with a tough sprint and beat St. Marks by 1 second!
