Groton Earns Win at Governor's
Groton scored three goals in the second half, including two in the final five minutes, to secure a win against Governor's.
The Zebras opened the scoring with 20 minutes left when Maddie Culcasi headed home a corner kick from Grace Travis. WIth under five minutes left, Travis took another corner kick and found Karenna Beckstein who brought the ball down and banged it home. Finally, with about one minute remaining, the Governor's goalkeeper parried away another Travis corner but Lyndsey Toce rushed in and volleyed in the Zebras' third goal.
The Groton defense did well to hold off the Governor's counterattack and help Angelika Hillios secure her third shutout of the season.
Groton (4-10) travels to Lawrence Academy next Wednesday.
