Groton takes down MX

In an intense match-up between Groton and Middlesex, the action was non-stop from start to finish. Groton got off to a strong start in the 1st period with a faceoff goal from Harrison Freelove.  Devin Fitzgerald and Will Koukopoulos assisted after a great face-off win. Middlesex quickly responded in the 2nd period with a goal from Tedy O’Keefe.  However, Groton regained the lead with a shorthanded goal from Zach Baker, who sprung loose on a breakaway after getting a great pass from Alejandro Hassan who got it from Allen Fang. The momentum stayed with Groton as they extended their lead with another goal from Devin Fitzgerald as he wrapped the puck around the Middlesex goalie. "Fitzy's" goal was assisted by Will Koukopoulos and Harrison Freelove. Middlesex fought hard and managed to narrow the gap with a goal from Bryan Tang, their top goal scorer. Despite a valiant effort, Middlesex fell short as Groton's goaltender Ethan Ramonetti stood strong, making 36 saves out of 38 shots on goal, securing the victory for Groton with a final score of 3-2. The Groton Zebras will face off against St. Mark's this Saturday for their final road trip of the regular season. The Zebras will wait until then to find out where and when they will play in the playoffs. Stay tuned!
