Groton Opens with a Win Over PAS

The Zebras welcomed Portsmouth Abbey School to the OB on Wednesday night for their season opener. Groton got off to a 1-0 lead with Christina Scalese '26 opening up the scoring midway through the first period. After a penalty filled second, PAS picked up a goal to tie things up 1-1. Late in the second, Kiely Murphy '25 buried a big PP goal to head into the intermission with a 2-1 lead.

Fortunately, the third period started to slow down as Groton controlled much of the play. Newcomer Hazel Hughes '25 scored her first career goal as a Zebra early in the third on the powerplay (assist from Keira Ley '24). Hughes then blocked a shot in the third period on a PK and buried a breakaway goal to solidify a 4-1 win.

Groton heads north on Saturday to play a tough KUA squad. Puck drops at 5pm in Meriden, NH.
