Groton vs. Rivers

Rivers raced to a 4-0 lead in the first half, capitalizing on some miscommunications from set pieces, 50-50 calls, and defensive turnovers from the Zebras.  The second half shifted the game’s complexion slightly: another goal from Sixth Former Leo Serodio helped to reignite some defensive energy and pressing from Groton, and the Zebras looked more like themselves in pressuring Rivers and trying to carve out more possession.  A final goal in the last ten dented some of Groton’s build-up play, but the second half marked an improved sense of cohesion on the pitch as Groton’s young team continues to mature while playing against some of New England’s best squads.  Next up: Thayer at home on 10/11.
