Groton vs. St. George's

The Zebras suffered their first defeat of the ’23 season, as a resurgent St. George’s claimed a victory at Groton.  A relatively disorganized first half saw Groton concede possession multiple times in their own half, as SGS routinely pushed into Groton’s final third, and some smart goalkeeping and last-ditch defending preserved a 1-0 score line at the half.  The Zebras finally played up to their opposition starting the second, as several underclassmen injected some much needed athleticism and physicality in the match.  Groton began to exert more control over the proceedings, but an exquisitely placed finish on a counterattack from SGS dampened some of the optimism and energy from the boys.  It was a much improved second half performance, and we hope that can carry over into our next match.  Up next: Belmont Hill on Wednesday (9/27).
