A Great Day of Lacrosse

Beamsie!
Longtime teacher-coach-mentor (and Middlebury and Loomis HOF inductee) Fred Beams, now enjoying the salt air of the beautiful Maine coast, is still remembered fondly on this day, as he roamed the sidelines of both Holderness and Groton lacrosse fields for nearly 40 years.
On a sunny spring day, Groton tangled with a gritty and skilled Cushing squad (kudos to Ian Boldt for the job he is doing with his Penguins)
and finished the double-header with perennial power New Hampton.
Coach Justin Simon's team showed athleticism, discipline, and hustle--no surprise, given the coach--and while the Huskies outscored the Zebras, there were some positive take-aways here.
It was especially meaningful to share the sideline with a former student, advisee, and player (Simon), as well as with longtime fellow Cardigan Mt. Lacrosse Camp colleague (and former Bowdoin College Head Coach) Tom McCabe.
