Notes about Groton Admission Decisions Released on March 10

The last few months of reading applications have been inspiring because so many of you are great applicants.  Thank you to everyone who applied to Groton this year.  Decisions will be released on March 10.

Here's some advice lots of people will dismiss, but I'm an old guy, and therefore I feel compelled to provide advice whether it is wanted or not. Here goes... Many schools release admission decisions online in the wee hours of the morning in the eastern time zone of the United States.  If you live in a region within the eastern time zone of the United States, sleep in.  Don't get up.  The decisions will be there for you when you and your family have had a good night's sleep.

And I have one more piece of advice about actions you can take that will be helpful to many parties.  If you are accepted by a school and you know that you would definitely like to attend that school, let them know as soon as you know.  If a school accepts you and you know you are not going to enroll there, let them know.  Informing schools about whether or not you want to remain on a waiting list is also a good idea.  When you are sure of a response, sharing that information helps schools and applicants on waiting lists.

A last note: Families of admitted students seeking financial aid at Groton will be able to learn about their award on March 10, soon after they have accessed their decision.

Here's wishing you all the best of luck finding a school where you will thrive!
