An Evergreen at Groton

I write to you on the occasion of the winter solstice, a time that must have felt utterly bleak to ancient ancestors.  When will the days become brighter?  When will we see something growing again?  Eventually the tradition of bringing evergreens into homes developed, a practice that has evolved into today's modern Christmas tree.  My family's tree is decorated with ornaments that stimulate all sorts of memories of days gone by.  As the year comes to a close, a dark living room with a brightly lit tree offers something special: tranquility.

Preparing applications can require a great deal of effort.  We at Groton wish you well, and thank you for the interest you have shown in our school.  May the weeks ahead bring you peaceful time for quiet reflection and all the joy that accompanies celebrations with friends and family.

All the best,
