Life on the Groton Circle in Early December

The weeks between Thanksgiving vacation and the winter break are always full of activity at Groton. Last Saturday, we enjoyed a delightful Holiday Pops concert featuring the chamber orchestra, our a cappella group, and our jazz band. Rather than a formal concert, we hold these performances in the Forum at the center of the schoolhouse, and decorating cookies is a very popular sideshow to the music. Much more traditional Christmas performances, Groton's Lessons & Carols services, take place beginning this week in St. John's Chapel. The winter athletic season has begun, and Groton teams have already enjoyed some great success. Next week will involve a number of major academic commitments before the long break.

Last night, we held our "Affordability & Financial Aid" webinar, and you can view a recording of this event here. Groton has worked hard to contain the cost of our tuition and increase our financial aid budget significantly. Families' financial capabilities are not taken into consideration during the admission process, and our support is extensive throughout students' time at Groton.

Those of you who have not registered for an interview are encouraged to do so; we did run out of interview slots last year. Interviews on campus are prioritized, and we do have numerous openings in early January. Opportunities for "remote" interview requests are not as abundant. Requests are placed in queues at this point. Most remote slots are full at this point. We will have more available in the second half of January. As a reminder, our application is due on the 15th of January, but we will continue to interview applicants through the rest of the month.

I wrote on the eve of the December SSAT date. If you are taking the test tomorrow, get some sleep tonight! We wish you well!

All the best,
