Zeebs Survive an ISL Thriller

The Lady Zeebs loaded up a toaster and set their sails east for a showdown with Buckingham Browne & Nichols. Both teams were battling with an afternoon AP exam and some injuries, which forced new doubles pairings across the board.

Groton got the scoring started by winning at #3, with two sixth-formers making themselves at home in Cambridge (👀). Next to finish was an epic fight at #1, with BB&N taking the point. All eyes turned to #2 where the two teams were never more than a few games apart. The Knights saved several match points, but ultimately the Zebras stampeded to victory. Groton took a 2-1 lead into singles.

A much-anticipated match at #1 would live up to the hype. It was a slugfest, with both players competing at an extremely high level. As the war raged on, Groton would pick up convincing wins at #2, #3, and #4 to decide the match. With the victory in hand, BB&N's young superstar would win a tight third-set tiebreaker at #1. The last two matches would be #5 and #6, with each team winning a point. Groton 6, BB&N 3.

The team chowed down on Ma Magoo's pizza and sandwiches, and they celebrated a hard-fought win against a team that will be a major factor in New England for years to come.
