Double OT Thriller

A undermanned Groton team put forth a great effort as they almost defetated Middlesex in a double overtime classic game. Groton had a chance to win the game in regulation, but had a bad snap as they were attempting a 35 yard field goal.

IV Form Zebra gridder Anthony Romano (Amherst, NH) had a stellar four-TD performance. The scrappy and talented Romano wore many hats on the day, playing wide receiver, runningback, quarterback, linebacker and defensive back as he spearheaded a tremendous Groton comeback effort with his running and pass receiving, while his fourth period interception set up
his game-tying score.

“Anthony certainly put forth a yeoman’s effort today,” said Harold Francis, Anthony’s position coach on both sides of the ball. “We were a bit undermanned today, but Anthony stepped up and filled in where needed – a great effort and performance.”
