Athlete Of the Week 10/26/16

Congratulations to Chewy BruniAndrew Yang, and Lucy Andersonon being the Athletes Of the Week!!!
Boys’ Varsity Soccer: “Chewy Bruni scored two goals late in the game against BBN to first tie the match and then put us ahead. The first was a beautiful strike from outside the 18, and the second was a clever heel flick on a cross from Tyler Brooks. Both were quality goals and made the difference in the game.”—Coach Goodrich

Boys’ IIIs Soccer: “Andrew is anchoring our midfield and generally controlling the games for the team. He is hard working, polite, and takes direction to improve his play. He is positive with his teammates. Last week we played Belmont Hill (a team that should have beat us easily). Andrew went down with a bad cramp in his quad. At that point we were already a goal down. Despite being in pain, he was cleared to return. He came in and played center back, a new position for him, but one at which he excelled. He shut things down at the back so that other players could push forward. Late in the game he delivered the corner kick that allowed us to score and end the game 1-1.”—Coach Duclos

Girls’ Cross Country: “All Lucy has done in October is earn three PRs in seven days and notch individual wins in JV races. She set the pace for our pack en route to a sweep of the JV meet with Thayer and St. George’s. She has run tough, methodical races, pulling through the crowd in the first mile, opening her lead in the middle of the race, and pulling away from everyone in the last mile. She also finishes races extremely strong--she pumps her arms and legs with strength and determination at the end, and gives that final push everything she's got. Her growth since preseason has been stunning.”—Coahces O’Donnell and Bannard
