An even contest

Both teams generated chances in this spirited contest. BB&N struck early, with a couple of quick goals and a third before the end of the first period. Emily P, who stepped up to help her team by playing goalie in Morayo's absence, settled in and made more and more saves as the game went on. At the other end, we put some good shots at the BB&N goalie, but she was rock solid, and we weren't able to put any rebounds past her. In the second period, we competed hard and spent several long stretches in the offensive zone without any goals to show for it. BB&N snuck one more past Emily, and they were up 4-0 after 2 period. The third period belonged to Groton. Emily shut the door on several quality scoring chances, and Gracie fired a puck into the top corner to get us back to 4-1. Late in the first, Gracie scored again, on a play where many of her teammates and opponents weren't sure if the puck had gone in with all the traffic in front. Despite a couple more chances, including some time with an extra attacker, that's how it ended.
