Hard-Earned Win

The final score of today's match doesn't come close to telling the whole story of the long, close games that were played. Of the 26 games that were played, 11 were settled by only two points. Groton's depth came shining through with Cal Wilson earning a three-game win at #7 and Tabor's exceptional top two players won in three but all the matches in between were close, hard-earned wins for Groton. Gabe Scholl pulled out a long four-gamer (winning only four more points than his opponent but taking the crucial last one) and Garrett Johnson won, 11-9 in the fifth, to give Groton a 3-2 lead with Walker Davey and Aaron Jin still on court. Davey eventually wore down a very sharp opponent and Jin put icing on the cake by taking his fifth game, 12-10.
