Groton rides bats to 4th straight win

Groton picked up its fourth straight win in commanding fashion, topping St. George's 16-1.  Kellen O'Donnell earned his first win of the season, going 5 strong innings and allowing only 1 run, and Kiran Sen closed it out with 2 perfect innings.  At the plate, Gavin Cronin and Sen had three hits each, Kiefer Wood had a pair of hits and scored three times, and Forrest Nelson hit a grand slam.

The game was scoreless until the 3rd, when Groton scored four runs on a single hit, thanks to a pair of errors, four walks, two wild pitches, and a sacrifice fly.  St. George's plated their only run of the game in the bottom half on a walk and double, but O'Donnell settled down to retire three batters in a row and get out of the jam.  The Zebras put up another 4-spot in the 5th behind singles from Nate Johnson, Sen, and Cronin, along with three walks.  Sen singled home another run in the 5th, before Groton put up 7 runs in the top of the 7th, highlighted by Nelson's grand slam.

O'Donnell struck out 5 while allowing 2 hits and a walk, and Sen added 3 strikeouts.
