A Great Win!

These guys continue to get better and to earn their results. With a short bench today, everyone competed hard, pushing to contribute to the team's success. We blocked a lot of shots, backchecked hard, stopped on pucks in front of either net, and took care of the puck well. Both of our goalies played well, making big saves and controlling rebounds. With these great habits, we earned a great win against a strong Brooks team in a back-and-forth game. Brooks opened the scoring about 4 minutes into the game with a nice shot from the slot. Lars got us on the board with a rebound goal, his second in as many games. Brooks took the lead again about halfway through the second before Russell finished a power play chance to draw us level again. We got our first lead of the game when Forrest stepped into a rebound with 8 minutes left in the game. Brooks had chances after that as they tried to get back to level, but we did not give them many good ones, and Tyler was up to the task. Russell sealed the win for us on a beautiful, floating, 175-footer into the empty net in the closing seconds. It was a great win, and we have 2 more chances to keep getting better, with games against Cushing and Beaver Country Day left on the schedule.
