Decisive victory against long-time rival

If a poll were done of Groton School varsity boys tennis alumni of which team they would most like to beat in a given season, it is pretty certain that Milton Academy would win in a landslide. The vote would reflect the strength of Milton's teams over the nearly four decades that Señor Conner has coached the squad.

Consequently, the 6-1 victory on Wednesday was particulary satisfying. Groton struck early by capturing the doubles point with crisp wins by Matt Kandel/Aaron Jin and Ben Jones/Jared Gura. Next, in singles, Kandel, Trigg, Gura, Jones and Jin added prevailed to provide a 6-1 margin of victory.

The final chapter of this great season comes tomorrow against St. Mark's and, then, Saturday at the NEPSITT tournament at Choate, a showcase for singles and doubles teams.
