Peter B. Camp Chair in English and the Humanities

The Peter B. Camp Chair in English and the Humanities was established in 2012 by an anonymous donor, in memory of Peter B. Camp, faculty member 1969-1994 and acting headmaster during 1977-78. Peter is remembered for his inspiration to Groton students, his devotion to the School, his gracious and caring nature, and his sense of humor. English Department Head Sravani Sen-Das is the first ever to hold this Chair.
English Department Head Sravani Sen-Das taught at schools in India and England prior to joining the Groton faculty in 1999. Within her field, she has a special interest in classic modern literature, especially the works of James Joyce.  Her other responsibilities on campus have included running a Lower School dorm, advising the Book Club, and working diligently on academic support. Sravani has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Delhi, as well as a master’s from University of London and a PGCE from Oxford University. She lives on campus with her husband Nishad, a mathematics teacher, and her three children, the oldest of whom is in the Form of 2016.
