![]() | Michaella E. Chung, Mathematics and Computer Science Department Michaella Chung teaches mathematics. Before arriving at Groton, she earned a BS in civil engineering from Columbia University and a PhD in civil and environmental engineering from University of California, Berkeley. Michaella's research focused on fusing together mathematics and emerging technologies to better understand watersheds and critical habitat, and she is excited to encourage her students to us e mathematical theory and concepts to answer questions that they may have about the world. Outside of the classroom, Michaella is an affiliate in a Lower School dorm. She enjoys baking pies, rooting for the New York Mets, and catching up on the newest developments in the eco-hydrology world. After many years away from New England, she is excited to re-explore the region with her husband, Daniel. | |

Harvey, Mathematics and Computer Science Department Eddie Harvey joined the Groton faculty as a math teacher in 2018, after spending three years at Cambridge Associates, an investment advisory firm that serves a variety of endowments and foundations, including many private schools. Prior to working in finance, Eddie graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with a major in economics and a minor in Spanish. There he co-captained the lightweight crew team, tutored econometrics, and led backpacking trips in the White Mountains with the Dartmouth Outing Club’s First Year Trips Program. In addition to teaching a variety of math courses, Eddie coaches cross country in the fall and rowing in the spring, and serves as a dorm affiliate. He enjoys teaching statistics because it is an unloved branch of math that has many applications across STEM fields and the social sciences. Eddie picked up endurance sports in high school and has followed these passions ever since. Depending on the season you will find him running on a road, gliding on a cross-country ski trail, rowing on a river, or hiking on a mountainside. | |
![]() | Jennifer Ho, Art Department Jennifer Ho teaches visual arts and co-directs the Christopher Brodigan Gallery. She graduated from UMass Amherst in 2014 with a BFA in Studio Arts (Printmaking) and a minor in education. She continued her interest in art education as an art studio teacher at a preschool in Hingham, MA for two years, where she received an award for Excellence in Care and Education. In May 2018, Jennifer completed her MAT at MassArt, with two graduate teaching assistantships and an honorary internship at Boston Arts Academy; she was awarded the Book Award for the outstanding graduate in her department. Jennifer was born in Hartford, CT and grew up for fifteen years in Singapore, where she attended an international high school before transitioning to Massachusetts for college. She has traveled all across the world, including countries such as New Zealand, China, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam, Sweden, and many more. In her free time, she enjoys exploring new territories and hidden gems around the city, relaxing with her dog Bubbles, and spending time with family and friends spread out across New England. | |
![]() | Elias N. Mansbach, Physics Fellow Eli Mansbach is the physics teaching fellow this year, teaching two sections of Advanced Physics: Mechanics. He graduated from Amherst College in 2018 where he majored in physics. Eli played Ultimate Frisbee for Amherst for four years and also worked as a volunteer EMT for the college's emergency medical service. Throughout his time at Amherst, Eli worked as a teaching assistant for the Physics Department and, in 2017, was in charge of organizing and teaching the college's EMT course. Eli is originally from Atlanta and enjoys hiking and camping in the north Georgia mountains. In addition, Eli is an avid rock climber, spending a lot of time climbing in Western Massachusetts during college and doing an expedition to Grand Teton, Wyoming. | |
![]() | Mark W. Melchior, Library Director Mark joined Groton School after working in university, community college, and independent school libraries. He studied librarianship at McGill University in Montreal. Working with archival and special collections drew him to library work, but it was the opportunity to help students gain mastery in information literacy that drew him to academic and school libraries. He originally trained as a historian at Yale and Boston College, where he pursued interests in the history of medicine and in Christianity in early modern Europe. He spent a year in Venice doing dissertation research in their state archives, reading sixteenth-century manuscripts and some of the earliest printed books. | |
![]() | Lynn Pittsinger, Director of Health Lynn Pittsinger is a nurse practitioner who came to Groton School in July 2017. She most recently served as the Director of Pediatric Emergency Services at Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. Lynn has also served as a nurse practitioner in the medical-surgical ICU at Boston Children's Hospital and at Boston Children's Martha Eliot Health Center. Previous to that work, she served as a nurse practitioner on the neurosurgical team at Dallas Children's Medical Center and as the Craniofacial Team Manager and in the Emergency Department at Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Additionally, Lynn served as the first director of the Connecticut Children's Medical Center Emergency Department. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Lynn served as an emergency department nurse and intensive care unit nurse at Hartford Hospital, Manchester Memorial Hospital, and at Central Maine Medical Center. Lynn trained as a nurse practitioner and was awarded a masters degree from Yale University. She attended Central Maine Medical Center School of Nursing for her nursing degree and graduated from Bates College with a bachelors degree with a major in psychology. Lynn holds national certifications as a pediatric nurse practitioner (CPNP) and as a pediatric primary care mental health specialist (PMHS). She holds additional certifications in executive nursing practice (CENP) and health quality (CPHQ). In addition to serving as the Director of Health Services at Groton School, Lynn maintains a per diem practice with Harvard Vanguard out of Wellesley, MA and continues to teach Pediatric Advanced Life Support at Boston Children's Hospital. Lynn is the mother of seven children and a grandmother of five. Her passion is spending time with her children and/or their families in Washington state, Florida, and Massachusetts. She has recently moved to Groton in order to be geographically approximate to the school community and presently shares her home with her youngest daughter and her dog Pippin. She enjoys swimming, theater, reading, painting, and knitting...and has found herself to have a recent addiction to the Lightening Rounds of Words with Friends. | |
![]() | Amanda L. Reichenbach, History Fellow Amanda Reichenbach is the 2018–19 Charles C. Alexander intern in the History Department. Outside the classroom, she is assistant coach of the volleyball team, the faculty advisor for Model UN/Model Congress, and a Second Form dorm affiliate. Prior to arriving at Groton, Amanda attended Phillips Academy, Andover. In May 2018, she received a BA in history with distinction from Yale University. In college, she held several leadership positions in the Yale Political Union, played club volleyball, and was an academic tutor. Amanda is originally from Wilmette, Illinois and enjoys biking, crossword puzzles, and audiobooks. | |
![]() | Adam M. Reid, Counseling Department, Clinical Psychologist Dr. Adam Reid brought his passionate care and expertise in anxiety, OCD, and mood disorders to Groton's Counseling Center in 2018. During his undergraduate and graduate training at the University of Florida (Go Gators!), Dr. Reid completed a master's degree in clinical and health psychology (2012), a master's in psychiatric epidemiology (2014), and a doctorate in clinical and health psychology (2016). In 2015, Dr. Reid received a prestigious national award from the American Psychological Association, recognizing him as the Most Distinguished Graduate Student in Professional Psychology. Dr. Reid then went to McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston to complete his post-doctoral education. He currently remains affiliated with McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School, where he completes donor-funded research at the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Institute. Since 2016, Dr. Reid also has operated a private practice in Arlington and Brookline, Massachusetts. Dr. Reid's research during and after graduate school has been centered on improving the quality of and access to treatments for anxiety and OCD. He has published more than thirty peer-reviewed articles and ten book chapters on this topic. His passion for research and understanding of the latest literature helps him provide the most up-to-date psychological interventions. He uses this clinical experience to form future research projects. Dr. Reid is a Floridian at heart. He was born in Titusville, Florida, and spent most of his life in Gainesville, where his father served in local government. Dr. Reid enjoys nature, traveling, watching college football, playing sports, learning, analyzing his cat's behavior, and cracking bad jokes. He lives with his wife in Boston. | |
![]() | Andrea W. Underhill, Interim Director of Theater After earning her bachelor's degree in theater from University of Vermont in 2011, Andrea Underhill completed an internship at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., then returned to Vermont to lead an after-school, junior high performing arts program for three years. Working with students helped Andrea discover her passion for teaching the performing arts. In 2016, she completed her master's in theater education from Emerson College. Andrea came to Groton from Peacock Players, a nonprofit youth theater in Nashua, New Hampshire. Having directed more than a dozen productions and overseen Peacock's summer camp, Andrea brought to Groton artistic management experience that encompasses everything from character study and set design to ticket sales and scheduling. At Groton this year, Andrea will direct three mainstage productions and teach two courses. She is grateful for Groton's warm welcome and the opportunity to contribute to the community, and always enthusiastically accepts offers to exercise, bargain shop, and drink good, strong coffee. | |
![]() | Nathaniel B. White, Mathematics and Computer Science Department Nat White joined the Groton faculty in 2018. He teaches math, coaches soccer and ice hockey, and serves as a dorm affiliate. A native of Milwaukee, Nat spent his undergraduate years at Williams College studying math and chemistry. Since then, he has pursued multiple passions and interests, both academic and athletic. Along the way, Nat earned an MA studying educational policy at the University of Michigan and an MS in mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has taught math and coached at a private day school in Wisconsin and a boarding school in Connecticut. Nat is excited to work with Groton students and colleagues who demonstrate their talents and curiosity in multiple realms. Nat lives on campus with his wife, Julie '95, their two elementary school-aged children, and two cats. In addition to his teaching and coaching interests, Nat enjoys speedskating, cycling, hiking, camping, and reading. |
