Brooks - a tough loss at home

Great field hockey weather – the heat and humidity have finally gone, and what a spectacular day with numerous Brooks teams visiting. The Brooks field hockey girls are a very strong, hungry team who work hard at being the first to EVERY ball. The game swung back and forth during the first half with both teams having chances. Brooks put the first tally on the board five minutes into the second half. Groton tied the game with about minutes left when Eliza Turner passed the ball to Maggie Cheever who wound up and let fly – she made it look easy – right past the goalie. Brooks scored the winning goal with about ten minutes left. A frustrating outcome, especially because of the hard work each girl put into the game. Anna Copeland had some great saves in goal, and Cassidy Thibodeau was an energizer bunny, determined to get to every ball first, and scrappy as she fought numerous one-on-one battles to keep or take the ball from an opponent.
