Delicious Chewy Reiss

Ted Goodrich
Going into today’s game, we knew Governor’s would be a tough team to break down. While they haven’t won a game yet, they have been a formidable opponent for each team they’ve faced. And though Groton had the bulk of play in the first half, in the 43rd minute, Governor’s Paul Nassor found himself at the top of the box and lofted the ball up and over Groton’s Theo Gardiner for the lead. Horrible memories of the Thayer game dancing in their heads, the Groton players sat in disbelief at halftime. Inspired, perhaps, by Coach Pedreschi’s moustache, the team found the resolve they needed to rebound with four goals in the second half. Chewy Bruni slotted home a Max Steinert pass to tie the game in the 64th minute, and then Bruni (now elven goals on the season) buried a perfect free kick in the upper corner just ten minutes later. Not wanting young Bruni to garner all the fame, tri-captain Alec Reiss smacked in a Max Stong flick-on just two minutes later. All the while, Walker Davey was covering so much ground from 18 to 18 that he might have been wearing a tank top or a cape. Right at the end of the game, it was Alec Reiss again, volleying home a lovely corner from brother Mark Reiss.
