A better afternoon for Proctor than Groton, 2-4
A cloudy chilly day in Andover NH, and a disappointing afternoon for the Groton girls. After a slightly off-balance start, Groton dominated Proctor for most of the first half, allowing Maggie Cheever to score the first two goals of the game, within the first twenty minutes. In spite of numerous other opportunities and lots of shots, though, that was the end of the scoring for Groton. Proctor has a solid goalie who had no trouble clearing the ball outside the circle on most shots that came her way. Proctor began their scoring with about ten minutes to play in the first half, continued with two more goals in the second half, and scored a heartbreaker with 38 seconds to play, as Groton was mounting considerable pressure. Too many fouls, too many errant balls, too many feet in the way - all contributed to a sloppier afternoon than all would like. We head to the practice field tomorrow with a plan in mind, in an effort to return to the winning ways we've seen thus far.
