Athletes of the Week
Congratulations to Groton's Athletes of the Week for the week of February 11—girls varsity hockey player Melissa Cusanello '14 and boys thirds basketball player Anwar Mapp '16. Coaches nominate players who have contributed significantly to their teams, on or off the court or ice. Also for that week, the girls JV hockey team won a special Team of the Week callout.
In girls ice hockey, Melissa Cusanello stood out for inspiring her teammates and scoring a game-winning goal against St. George's. "Her work ethic, positive attitude, and leadership characteristics have truly blossomed since returning for the 2013 part of the season, and that has not gone unnoticed by her teammates," said Coaches Randi Dumont and Lauren Posillico.
Anwar Mapp has displayed true dedication to basketball and to his team. "Anwar has shown commendable leadership of his teammates, motivating, supporting, and organizing them in our games last week," said Coaches Arthur Clemente and Peter Quagliaroli.
The girls JV ice hockey team snagged Team of the Week recognition for its performance and improvement. "Hard work, enthusiasm, and togetherness enabled girls JV hockey to defeat crosstown rival Lawrence Academy 2-1," said Coaches Paul Graney and Tom Lamont. "The team has worked hard to improve its fundamental skills all season long."
Kudos to Groton School's Athletes of the Week!
