vs. Governor's Academy

Renée Twogood
Despite a tough matchup against the Governors, our team showed incredible heart, hustle, and sportsmanship from start to finish. With only two subs, every player stepped up to the challenge—whether it was Charlotte Jones and Madeleine Cutie making key clears in the first quarter, Zoe Smith dominating on draws and ground balls, or Kiely Murphy scoring our only goal with a powerful top-right shot. Defensively, we saw major improvements as the game progressed, with standout communication from Juwon Lee and a total of 11 saves from goaltender Srushti Mandera. Several players adapted to new positions with grace and energy, including Ella Bannard moving to midfield and Leia Motea taking on an attacking role for the first time.

The team’s resilience and support for one another stood out throughout the game. From Nora Qiao and Juwon Lee consistently getting open for passes, to Apple’s tenacity on ground balls and near goal attempt, everyone played with intensity and a positive spirit. Players like Sofia Hubball, Cecily Green, and Oluwateniola Sobowale—despite her injury—contributed through leadership, encouragement, and teamwork. While the scoreboard didn’t reflect our effort, the progress in communication, adaptability, and determination made this a game to be proud of.
