Kaiden Donia ’26 invited to USA Hockey developmental camp

Kaiden Donia ’26 has been invited to USA Hockey's NTDP (National Team Development Program) evaluation camp, a key feeder for the Olympic and national teams. It’s the first time a Groton skater has had such an opportunity.

A 6-5 defenseman from Townsend, MA, Kaiden heads to Plymouth, MI, this week along with forty-six of the top American hockey players born in 2008. The camp—which will help select the 2024–25 U.S. National Under-17 team—includes on-ice practices, off-ice training, and a six-game schedule of scrimmages.

“Kaiden started at Groton last year as a Third Former and has developed into an incredibly talented player,” said Boys hockey Coach Bill Riley. “He has been an integral part of the boys varsity hockey team for the last two seasons.”

Coach Riley praised Kaiden’s vision and agility, especially considering his size.

“Kaiden’s exceptional mobility allows him to transition from the defensive side of the puck to the offensive zone,” he said. “He has excellent vision, and anticipates plays before they happen. His instincts are spot on and he is a joy to coach. He never takes a day off and always looks for ways to improve his game.”

After camp, Kaiden will return to the Circle to join the boys varsity baseball team.
