Furious Comeback Leads to 12-11 OT Victory

Facing one of the top Junior Prep lacrosse teams in Cardigan Mountain School, the Groton JV squad bolstered its roster with six varsity players for what turned out to be a phenomenal contest. Groton jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Cardigan responded with a 9-1 run to earn what seemed like an insurmountable 9-3 lead midway through the 3rd quarter. Momentum shifted again and the Zebras responded with a 9-3 run to take the game to overtime. Zach Baker was the hero, fighting through multiple checks to score the game winner. Freddy Dent was "man of the match" with five goals, but had ample support from an all-JV defense and four goals from JV attackmen. The play of the day was a 60-yard bomb from Allen Fang to Daivyon Williams, who dished a perfect feed to Alex Foley just above the crease who knotted the game at 9-9 with a perfectly targeted strike.
