The Zebras take down Middlesex

In an exciting ice hockey game, the boys’ varsity ice hockey team emerged victorious over Middlesex this afternoon at Groton’s O’Brien Rink.

The Groton Zebras started off strong with a quick goal in the opening minute of play. The lead was established when fifth former Devin Fitzgerald pounced on a loose puck to start the scoring drive. It was a much needed and impressive goal to get things going for the home team. Despite the setback, Middlesex didn't give up easily, and they fought back and that tied the game at 1-1.

The only goal in the 2nd period was scored by Groton’s fifth former Will K. The Zebras kept up the pressure and continued to dominate the game, playing with confidence and skill.

In the third and final period, Groton gained the momentum with two more goals to make it 4-1, but Middlesex kept up their own attack and made it interesting with two more of their own.  In the final minutes, Groton managed to score a powerplay goal, icing the game to make it 5-3. Despite the final push by Middlesex, it was too little, too late, as the Zebras held on to their lead and secured a well-deserved victory. The crowd erupted with joy as the final whistle blew, and the Zebras celebrated their impressive performance on the ice.

Overall, it was a thrilling match-up. The Zebras, however, proved to be the stronger team, with their impressive attacking play and solid defense, earning them a memorable win.
