Winning up and over The Wall
The Boys Cross Country team put on a show Saturday afternoon, running down St.Marks, Milton, and Governors, the team’s combined effort has raised the Zebras to a 6-1 record in the ISL. A bystander remarked, “those boys are dangerous” as Groton ran through the sharp incline, known as "The Wall", that is a hallmark of the St. Marks course. With electric finishes from everyone, the team was led by Christopher Hovet whose performance (16:48) left the competition in the dust. Furthering Groton's dominance, senior captain Vivan Das (18:42), with ice in his veins, secured the crucial placement for the boys to beat Milton by one point. The Groton top five was rounded off by back-to-back strong finishes as Ryder Cavanaugh (18:52), Raymond Hildreth (20:01), and Anders Caspersen (20:05) ran down their competition.
With these three wins, the GXC is looking forward to next week as sixth-formers Jack Lionette and Lawerence Li, alongside fifth-form Jeremy Gall will rejoin the team to take on LA, Thayer, and Belmont at home.
