Athletes of the Week

Fall 2014, Week 6
Dorrie Varley-Barrett '15 (Girls Varsity Soccer)
In leading her team to victory on Saturday, Dorrie, for the first time in her career, scored two goals in a match.  Nonetheless, she earns AOW recognition more for her overall contributions than for these two specific goals.  Day in and day out, she personifies all of the characteristics that make our team, or any team, successful: grit, skill, intelligence, athleticism, unselfishness, humility, and passion.  These are traits worth celebrating!

Alec Reiss '17 (Boys Varsity Soccer)
Alec had two goals in the last two games. On Saturday his blast from just outside the 18 provided Groton’s first win of the season. A tireless player who has remained exemplary in effort and attitude, Alec has performed exceptionally well all season.

Will Norton '17 (Boys Varsity Cross Country)
Will ran the 5K at St. Paul’s in 17:41, 15 seconds faster than he ran our own course on Parents’ Weekend. While putting his all into practices and literally going extra miles (by cycling during the season in addition to running), he’s been running faster every week.
