The hallmark of a Groton education is the development of the whole person--body, mind, and spirit--to one's full capacity to achieve and to serve. More than ever before, superior athletic facilities act as necessary tools in this process. Groton's long athletic tradition and the role athletic values play in the development of our current students are examples of the centrality of athletics to the Groton experience. Although our focus has always been on developing people, not facilities, the School provides modern sports facilities that assist our student athletes to achieve their goals. The Athletic Center, completed in December 1998, allows winter practices to be scheduled so that students playing sports may pursue a normal routine after the academic day and athletics without conflict with, supper, school activities, and study hours.
