Tough loss

Groton lost in the final seconds of a close match  It was an afternoon when the lead went back and forth between Groton and Nobles. Groton struck first winning the doubles point on the strength of Griffin Gura / Samuel Lu and Husayn Lahda / Miles Zhang’s victories.  In singles only Trip Wight and Michael Lu were victorious. In two of Groton’s singles losses, third-set tiebreakers unfortunately went to Groton’s opponent, leading to a heartbreaking loss on the eve of Long Weekend. 

A bright spot of the day was the surprise return of recent graduates Larry Li and Will Vrattos, who came to cheer on the team. 

Coach Conner offered the following comment: “The boys fought hard once again. It is never easy to lose at the wire. Yet, I believe in this team. Great days lie ahead this season.”
