Tennis Over The Summer
This year I joined the tennis team at Groton, and this inspired me to work at a tennis club over the summer. I spent five days a week sweeping courts, stringing rackets, teaching little kids how to play a sport that I love, and more.
On a hot August day, a woman came for her lesson and brought her son, James, to watch. James is not the most patient six year old, and he wasn't thrilled to be sitting on the side, so he went up to the tennis shop, picked out a racket, and I fed him balls so he could hit forehands. He was thrilled to win the "who can pick up the balls the fastest" game and got a celebratory Gatorade after our 30 minutes of hitting.
Now, whenever James comes to tennis, he comes up to the shop to say hi and if there's time, he excitedly asks me to help sweep the courts.
