(Mini) Field Trip

(Mini) Field Trip
William '27

Last Thursday, after finishing our physics test, our class took a short trip (across the Circle) to the Chapel to explore the organ and record the frequencies of its different notes. It was a cool way to see how the concepts we had just learned about, sound waves and frequency, actually show up in the real world. Using recording tools and our knowledge from class, we analyzed the pitches produced by the organ. Hearing the notes while thinking about wavelengths and frequencies made the concepts feel much more tangible. It also gave us a break during Groton’s two-week "protected period," where every class has a major (test, presentation, essay, etc.), which was much needed!
