Groton Spirit
At the end of each term, during the week leading up to us playing our rival, St. Mark's, the all of the Groton dorms compete in Spirit Week. The winners get a feed (a snack at check-in ranging from homemade cookies to Chipotle), so every dorm goes all out. Although I’ve never won, Spirit Week is one of my favorite times to make memories with people in my dorm whom I might not otherwise get to bond with.
Some of my favorite themes and respective memories from Spirit Week are "rhyme without reason," where my prefect Gabby and I dressed up as Shrek and a deck (of cards), and "beach day," where I dressed up as a narwhal.
Dorms also compete in games at Roll Call once a day to earn dorm points. The challenges include musical chairs, catching goldfish in your mouth, and eating a doughnut off of a string blindfolded. Getting to hear your dorm cheer you on as you undertake these seemingly impossible and slightly embarrassing tasks makes for some unforgettable Groton moments.
