Every year, a highly anticipated first-week-of-school tradition is the first dance of the year. The first Saturday night after classes begin is Dorm Storm.

Arguably the dance with the highest student attendance, all dorms dress up as a common theme attempting to be as creative and outlandish as possible. In recent years, full body-paint, Minions, and Smurfs have made impressive showings. The hardest part of preparing for Dorm Storm is undeniably coming to a costume agreement that everyone agrees with. The daily check-ins leading up to the weekend were filled with suggestions, feedback, and flat-out refusals.

One check-in, the idea of neon wigs was introduced. As fun as the idea seemed, “neon wigs” was not going to fly as a costume. Eventually we decided upon the theme “Wacky Walls,” using alliteration to honor our dorm name, Wall's. Endless frantic Amazon orders later, Saturday night finally arrived. The dorm was a whirlwind of chaos as neon wigs went flying and glow sticks cracked. Order was restored just in time for Dr. Ibrahim to take a dorm photo and we were out the door.
