A Day on the Cape

A Day on the Cape
Susan '28

This summer, my good friend Maggie '28 invited my roommate Cora '28, Brisa '28 and I to spend a week on Cape Cod with her family. The same day GRACE ended, Brisa and I headed to her home in Cambridge for one short day before making the long drive to Sandwich, MA. The next day, the 4 of us headed out bright and early to catch the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard.

We arrived on the island to a light drizzle, gray skies, and heavy winds. We quickly sheltered in The Black Dog Cafe for breakfast and coffee. Thankfully, within minutes of our arrival, the sky had cleared up and the sun was peeking through the clouds. Most of our day was spent exploring Main Street in Oak Bluffs before heading to the Jaws Bridge, a spot known for its prominent role in the 1975 film Jaws. Sitting at 15 feet high, the bridge appeared more daunting from the top than the bottom. Cora flipped off it multiple times while I took on the safer task of filming from the nearby rocks after a few jumps.

We ended the day with dinner in Edgartown with a gorgeous view of the water and caught the latest ferry off the island.
