Chapel Talk Archive

A special tradition at Groton School’s weekday Chapel services is the generous practice of Sixth Form students delivering a Chapel talk to their peers and teachers. Drawing on personal experience and spoken from diverse and particular perspectives on the world, each talk connects members of the school and touches on the perennial question, How are we to live? Grounded in love and centered on an ethic of justice, through Chapel the community shares in the telling and living of an ongoing sacred story. A lightswitch at the pulpit, turned on by the student speaker, a “fan section” for moral support, a “hug line” of friends and congratulatory adults, and a group picture outside on the Chapel steps are all ritual expressions in our beloved community.
