Circlefest Celebrates Pure Fun, Joy of Spring

Groton’s first-ever CircleFest drew virtually the entire community onto the Circle Saturday evening. No one could resist the fun, the food, the games, or the beautiful, sunny weather.
Five inflatables—boxing, jousting, a bungee run, dueling ladders, and an obstacle course—joined lawn games and the roly-poly challenge of bubble soccer to create a carnival-like atmosphere, delighting students, faculty, and faculty children, who all contributed to a festival of positive energy. The smell of stone-oven pizza and BBQ wafted over the Circle, enticing people to picnic.

“I’ve been wanting to try an event like this since the start of the school year,” said Director of Student Activities Tim Leroy. “Spring is one of the best times of the year on campus—weather is slowly warming up, kids are outside on the Circle, and Prize Day is quickly approaching. Having an event on campus where all of the students, faculty, and families could attend was my goal.”

The evening ended with Talladega Nights, a movie chosen by the students, projected on an outdoor inflatable screen. It capped an inaugural event that sets the bar high for the future. Says Leroy: “I’m already thinking about CircleFest 2016 and what we can add to next year’s event!”
