Hometown: Los Angeles, California

Groton Activities: Cross country, hockey, crew

Most surprising when you first arrived at Groton: The connection that the faculty share with students at Groton amazed me. Groton's close-knit community of both my teachers and my peers ensured a smooth transition to life at boarding school.

Favorite class: Dr. Black's Ecology course was a highlight of my Third Form year. As a group, we consistently journeyed into the fields on campus to study the changing world around us. The course helped enhance my understanding of pertinent current events such as climate change and maintained a lively class environment throughout the entire year.

Most memorable Groton moment: My first sports competition as a Grotonian—a crew race as the fifth boat against Brooks. I was beyond proud of my boat as the dedication we showed to learning the sport throughout the term resulted in our victory!

Favorite Dining Hall food: Grilled cheese and tomato soup

  • Off They Go!

Sunday was Prize Day—a day for celebration, a day for remembrance, and a day for bittersweet goodbyes. Each year, the seniors depart campus for the final time one week early, leaving the remaining student body to take spring final exams in their absence. This year, our final goodbyes were soaked in celebration for their accomplishments, gratitude for their pasts, and excitement for their futures.

    Mother's Day Crew

While most of my Sundays at Groton are the epitome of lazy, this Mother’s Day was a little different. My Sunday this week began bright and early, with the sun just barely beating me to the morning sky. I popped out of bed at 5:30 a.m. in preparation for a 6:30 bus departure to Manchester, New Hampshire, where both the boys and girls varsity crew teams would compete in a Mother’s Day regatta.

  • Tis the Season

Amidst (hopefully) the tail end of the COVID pandemic, 2021 has been a year of great progress at Groton and around the world. Although hectic, we as a community have seen the fruits of our labor, as the incredible effort we have put forth into keeping us safe has more than paid off. With the last days of 2021 with the student body on campus winding down, we closed out these two weeks on campus with a memorable school event: Lessons & Carols.

  • Heading Home

I will admit, I enjoy the little things. There are few things in life that make me prouder than when I apply something I have recently learned in a real-life, problem-solving scenario. Connecting the classroom to the tangible world around me never fails to bring a smile to my face, and one day this summer was full of these connections.
