• Cross Country - Varsity Boys

    2018 - 2019
    Head Coach: John Capen

Captains for 2023–24: Ryder Cavanaugh, Jeremy Gall, Eric Ge

Cross country is a large and prominent team on campus. Last year 25 boys of all abilities competed. There is no bench in cross country; everyone competes in each race and enjoys the same sense of accomplishment. Varsity and JV train as one team and share a strong bond of friendship and camaraderie. At the end of season banquet each year, it is common for departing seniors to describe membership on the cross country team as one of the most meaningful experiences of their time at Groton.

The Groton campus is situated in a beautiful part of north-central Massachusetts and we are able to train in a variety of locations. A typical week might entail intervals on the wooded trails of the conservation lands that abut the campus, a tempo run through the Groton Town Forest, or hill repetitions in one of the many apple orchards nearby.
