Good, tough 1-4 loss today

On the first day when it was warmer in the rink than out, the Groton girls JV stepped onto the ice early, excited to play again. In a back-and-forth game with Gloucester, we competed hard, generated a number of opportunities, and played solid defense. Emily L made some great saves in goal. Today's 5 D worked hard at both ends of the rink, with both Lilly and Gracie earning a number of shots on goal while also stymieing Gloucester's forwards, Morayo dominating the neutral zone, and Robin and Julia winning battles along the wall and making some nice passes. Our wings were strong on their sticks, including Lidia picking up the first penalty of the season mostly for being stronger than her opponent and Emily P, Alex, Cella, and Daphne with multiple shots each. At center, both Katie and Angela did well covering the whole rink, coming back to pull rebounds away from Gloucester forwards and both taking and setting up shots in the offensive zone. Gracie's goal (her second on the season) tied the game early in the second, but Gloucester's two goals early in the third put the game out of reach.
