Groton Ends the Season 4-4 with a win against St. Mark's!!

Vth Form all-purpose gridder Caleb Coleman (Wellesley, MA) spearheaded a Zebra 28-0 defeat of rival St. Mark’s last Saturday at Groton’s windy and cold home field. It was a satisfying ending for the Zebra VI Formers, as captains Clement Banwell and Jake Kissell, Chris Sznip, Brent Gorton and Autumn Johnson played their final game on the home turf, and captain Bennett Smith, the two-time All-ISL linebacker who missed the 2018 campaign with an injury, was instrumental with his leadership and his assistance to the coaching staff with his defensive play calling skills and adjustments. After a scoreless first period that saw both squads struggle with the blustery conditions, Coleman, operating out of the Wildcat set, was able to break the deadlock and put Groton on the board. IV Form quarterback Robbie Long (Dunstable, MA) barreled into the end zone for the conversion, and the Zebras went into intermission with an 8-0 lead. The talented Coleman added two more scores in the third period, galloping again out of the Wildcat set and taking an interception 80 yards to paydirt. The Lions gave up a safety in the final quarter and Coleman then added six more points on a run for the 28-0 finish, as the Zebras finished 4-4 on the season.
