0-1 OT loss against SM, but what a game!

Very windy, very cold, but sunny – remarkably after last night’s rain. Lots of fans – parents, grandparents, siblings, dogs – on the sidelines, but only football and field hockey were at home; all soccer games were moved to Lancaster because of the wet fields. What a GREAT way to end the season: the girls performed beautifully from the opening whistle, through all sixty minutes of regulation play, and right to the end of the overtime, when #10 for St. Mark’s, with her left shot play, brought the game to a disappointing end (perhaps why it is called sudden death). This was easily the best game of the season, for each individual and for the entire team. There were loads of exciting moments, with some superb connections between players, excellent defense, solid goaltending, considerable attack, impressive long runs carrying the ball. Huge kudos and thanks to seniors Ishana Das, Halle Livermore, Emma Matthews, and co-captains Sarah Conner and Freddie Tobeason for pulling their teammates together for such an impressive final outing. The sixth formers have worked hard all fall, on and off the field, encouraging and cheering on their teammates at every moment. And thanks to the parents for their continual support and for today’s spread after the game. They, in turn, were treated to an unexpected performance of song and dance. We have long known we have a team of choristers – we have been treated to loud sing-a-longs from the back of every bus we have ridden, but who knew they were such graceful dancers. Video to be posted.
