Hard Fought Lost to Nobles

Despite being outweighed significantly by the ISL9’s Monsters of the Midway (Nobles), the scrappy band of Zebras went to-to-toe with the Bulldogs, ultimately getting worn down in the second half to fall 30-14.
IV Form quarterback Robbie Long (Dunstable, MA), operating out of an Empty Shotgun offense, utilized all his weapons as he marched the Zeebs to two first half scores in a tight 16-14 battle late in the second half. The lefty pivot completed a TD pass to fellow IV Former Anthony Romano (Amherst, NH), while also connecting aerials to V Formers Caleb Coleman (Wellesley, MA), Matt Kandel (Greenfield, MA) and VI Former Chris Cznip (Denver, CO). Workhorse Coleman scored the other Groton touchdown with a nifty scamper around the Bulldog flank that was manned by a future Michigan Wolverine. The Zebra linemen, led by seniors Clement Banwell (Charlotte, NC), Jake Kissell (Enfield, CT) and Brent Gorton (Pensacola, FL) battled throughout the game on both sides of the ball, despite giving up a tremendous size advantage. “I couldn’t be prouder of a group of kids,” said Zebra mentor Jamie Lamoreaux. “We played hard, we played with passion and we played the game the right way. Our kids left it all on the field and should hold their heads high for their effort and performance.”
