Onward and upward 4-3 against Thayer

A beautiful but hot day – summer has returned briefly, and both teams felt the effects of the heat. The Groton girls were ready to go, and the late arrival of the refs did not lessen their focus or energy. As the game began, both teams were determined, but Thayer scored an easy goal in the opening minutes. Groton pulled itself together quickly, refusing to roll over and play dead. The girls scored the next three goals, then Thayer scored, then Groton, then Thayer again. Most impressive was the way the girls kept their composure throughout the game while never quitting. Play was solid all around, but Lily Kempczinski was especially ferocious at mid.
